INTRODUCTION OF TIKKAR ASTHAPAN

TIKKAR ASTHAPANVillageTikkar is situated at a distance of 90 km from Srinager& 1.5 km from Kupwara district headquarter on KupwaraChowkibal Road. On the right side of this road is the Asthapan Complex Comprising of about 150 kanals of land. Ahead of it is the TikkerBiradariMohalla spread along the main road for a length of about I km on both sides of the road. The Asthapan Complex includes temple of Goddess RagyneaBhagwati , Goddess ShardaBhagwati and Ashrams &Bhawans of Great Spritual Saints. Goddess RagyneaBhagwati( KHEER BHAWANI) temple and holy spring is a permanent Shakti Sthal with cosmic powers, where JagatAmba is omnipotent and omnipresent, blessing the devotees. A miracle is oftenly observed here that the water of the holy spring changes its colours from time to time. More is described above in the hindi contents. GodessSharda is the symbol of GodessSarswati (learning) and GodessDurga(shakti) and its temple is situated at the top of hillock in the Asthapan Complex. As per mythology and legends go that ShardaBhagwati came to Kashmir, (alongwith leftover Amrit from Devtas, in a Kalash) from South at the time when SAMUDRA MANTHAN (leqnzeaFku) took place between Devtas and Rakhshas. ShardaBhagwati had a brief stay at village Gushi (Kupwara) and on Her onward journey She rested at Tikkar on the hillock and had a brief stay at the spot where the temple exists today. From TikkarShardaBhagwati continued Her onward journey via Batpora – Ghotum Door -Thejan and finally rested at Shardi village on the banks of river Krishan ganga where river Madhumati gets connected to it (now in Muzaferabad district of Pak Occupied Kashmir “POK”) .ShardaBhagwati rested here in the form of a flat stone (shila) covering the AmritKalash. The three Sharda temples are in a same straight line. Much has been written about the signficance of this Shrine at village Shardi. Every year a great maila was being held there on ShardaAshtmi in the month of Bhadroon. Village Tikkar has served as one of an important base camps for the Yatries of ShardaTirath before the year of partition i.e. 1947.

The Goddess Sharda is seated on an auspicious seat of stone , She has a smiling look , She resembles Parvati having sword in one of his arms and Her eyes enlighten like sun, moon and fire. She is the life of the three worlds, having six arms, She is the entire energy.
